Audley school was officially opened as a through Primary/Secondary school on the 3^rd September 1930. The first head teachers were Mr A Smith in the Senior Department and Miss E Mercer in the Junior Department. In the 1970’s a new high school was built and therefore the existing school became Audley Infant and Audley Junior schools.

The infant school burnt down in an arson attack on Mother’s Day, 14^th March 1993. After being rebuilt and totally refurbished, Audley Commnuity Infant School was officially reopened in November 1993.

• Massive improvements have taken place over the last 8 years.
• 2 large Reception Classrooms were built in 2000. A new Dining Room and Kitchen was built to replace the outdated facilities, in 2002.
• A new Sports and Art (SPACE) facility has been built and the back field has been drained and Astro turfed to enhance opportunities for physical activities for school and the local community.
• The final phase of the building now taking place will link the SPACE building to school, enabling internal access. The offices are being remodelled to include a new Headteacher's room, a staff work room and new entrance and reception area which will provide a covered area for parents during inclement weather.

There are 4 classes in each year group wit no more than 27 children in a class. All 8 Year1 and 2 classrooms have Interactive Whiteboards, an invaluable resource used by teachers to support teaching and learning. There are also 2 mobile ICT suits available for use in the classroom.
